About, privacy and terms
World Right Now has no accounts, payments, ads, forms or analytics. This is how it works and what it does with your information.
How it's made
Every morning, Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, reads the public news feeds of NPR, Al Jazeera, France 24 and ABC News (Australia). It rewrites each story in plain words and adds background, key terms and timelines. Every story links to the original reports so you can check them. AI can make mistakes, so the reports are the final word.
The news is a daily edition, not a live feed. What does update live is the clock: local times and the day-and-night shading are worked out in your browser from the current time.
Privacy
- The site collects no personal information. There are no accounts, forms, trackers or analytics.
- The only thing it saves is the region and topic you last filtered by. That stays in your own browser so your choice is still set next time, and it never leaves your device. Searches aren't saved.
- The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses for security; see GitHub's privacy statement.
- Links to news sites take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
- Because the site collects nothing from anyone, it doesn't ask for anyone's age, including children's.
Cookies and storage
This site sets no cookies and loads nothing from other websites: its typefaces, map and pictures are part of the site. The filter it remembers is stored only because you picked it, so there's no consent banner to click through.
Your data
There's nothing to ask us to delete, because we don't store anything about you. To remove what this site saved in your browser, press the button.
Terms of use
- World Right Now is free to read and sells nothing, so there are no fees, subscriptions or refunds.
- Summaries are short rewrites of reporting by NPR, Al Jazeera, France 24 and ABC News. The site isn't affiliated with or endorsed by those outlets. Original headlines are quoted with a link to the full report, and the reporting belongs to its publishers.
- Summaries and background can miss detail or go out of date as stories develop. Check the linked reports before you rely on anything here. Nothing here is professional, legal, medical or financial advice.
Accessibility
Everything works with a keyboard. Tab moves between controls, Enter or Space presses buttons and opens the expandable sections, arrow keys move between timeline tabs, and Escape closes a key-term card or the menu. "Skip to the news" is the first stop. Text meets WCAG AA colour contrast, and motion switches off if your device asks for reduced motion. The map is also available as the list of stories.
